book cover

I tried to show the feeling I had before reading the play
I was expecting something happy story with the title 'happy days'
So, I took the letter 'W' from Winnie&Willie and made pattern out of it
I tried to make a pattern that has a warm and happy kind of feeling
For typeface, I used 'the serif'

Thanks!!!!!

Endgame

Lauren Harju

My ideas for Endgame came from the miscommunication between characters/dialogue. Throughout the play I felt like the conversations were chaotic and topics were left unresolved. All four cover ideas are still very sketchy at this point, but only numbers 1 + 2 actually relate to my idea.

Number 1 - I wanted to use simple shape and repetition, from the top area no specific arrangement or function But leading to the end the pattern becomes clearer and slightly more simple.

Number 2 - (sketchy) but I wanted to make typographic profiles of people using words/dialogue only from the play. One side asking questions, and the other side answers that don't make sense.

Happy Days

Ryan Park - These are my posters for Happy days. My concept is about "CONFUSION." I mostly tried to use any objects or games which are normally confusing from daily life.
Poster 1 - I overlaped same words repeatly. It creates confusion by reading properly. I tried to focus on two different colors and the overlaped part.
Poster 2 - I used an illustrated image of labyrinth which creates a confusion. The message is about that you need to experience all the confusion to reach to understand what happy days truly means, in the end.
Poster 3 - I used jigsaw puzzle image. You need to figure out and match all the confusing puzzle pieces to get (understand) the word, happy days.
Poster 4 - I tried to make an confusing illusion out of the name of title and the writer. I tried to make it look like few random shaped blocks, and when you take a closer look, you can see the word "happy days" and "Samuel Beckett" in negative sapce, which creates a confusion.

I personally prefer to use poster 1, and 2. Please give me some suggestions and solutions

end game

I am trying to represent chaos as my idea for end game.  I am using abstract as my approach. This one is representing a cycle or a deep hole of madness since clove and and ham are on a never ending cycle of drama or negativity.

Sum- Katie Erickson

This is my interpretation of an info graphic for Sum. The analytical side to the left comprises of all the durations one has to go through during the afterlife. The latter half (right side) is the last paragraph. I wanted it be more free-flowing and literally have more life to it, since it is describing what it is like to live in a world of jumps and hops from one event to the next.

A close up of the info graphic for Sum.

Anne Di Lillo : ENDGAME

I found the scenes within the play to be fragments of time, not necessarily in order or from the same day, they could be arranged in any order.

from last week, (I've lost the other 3 files):

HAPPY DAYS

Ben Avny

4 book covers for the play, "Happy Days".

My concept for the book covers is blind-optimisim. Winnie is blindly optimistic in her situation despite her unfortunate dilemma. She uses happiness, optimism, discovery of new things, etc. as a means of self-defense from herself caving into the torment she truly is in.

This cover typographically shows the audience's perception of Winnie's speaking as coherent at first, but progressively becomes incoherent and and all over the place. The stamp is a stamp that Just negates the chaos behind as it "stamps" happiness onto her misery bringing in the blind-optimism concept.

This cover also demonstrates blind-optism using a bar to graphically blind the happiness of the woman. The woman's face is used as the stamp here as it appears cut-out and out of place further expressing the blind or forced-optisim concept here as well.

This covers uses the type that Winnie speaks throughout out the play as a graphic device that is eating up or devouring her inside, although she still maintains a smile in order to protect herself from her misery.

This final cover communicates the concept of blind-optisim/happiness in the most clear way, as it as all that is seen. This ribbon like graphic also further demonstrates how she almost labeling her blind-optisim as she is aware of what she is doing.

Endgame Covers

Hey Guys and Girls it's Omar and these are my endgame covers. The last 4 are the revisions, and the idea is to focus on the relation between ham and clove. The first three were kind of vague just focusing on subtlties within the story so I changed the concept up. Feedback is always appreciated!

Endgame covers

Hi, this is Caryn.

My idea was that the story is very negative, and depressing.

Revised covers:

Original covers:

SOOMIN YOO - ENDGAME

Hi, I'm Soomin.
This book was very confusing and difficult for me. I couldn't understand why all characters repeated something weird and meaningless. Nothing was clear. That was my first impression of this book.
My concept of 'Endgame' is about something endless. No one knows this game(?) is going to be over, or not. There's no answer whether Clov is leaving Hamm, either. I felt that they were kind of stuck in the house and it would never end.

This poster represents that 2 main characters who repeat again and again. I don't know where it starts or ends. They are just stuck a space(house), standing a (random?) point, and doing something meaningless.
This one represents Clov who is stuck and moving around the house. And the author controls the play.

2ND WEEK

-I made a pattern with type(it looks just gradation color, though :'q).
I was planning to do french binding to express 'endless' concept.

I think I should try another version with 2nd poster.
I'm expecting you guys' opinions :D
Thank you and have a great day! Good Luck!!!
