MiOsphere:

Hello All;

So I have been working on the production of my book for the company/self-promotion project, and decided to change the name from MYOshpere to MiOsphere. It sounds exactly the same when pronounced and has a more direct link with BIO (much better than MAYO).

LOGO:
I came up with a newer logo, one that I think represents what I'm goin for without bein too literal. The shape of the Icon resembles a home (being the environment for the product) and also a person (linking to the clothing advisement option).

BOOK:
I have created a definite shape for the book (which takes the atmosphere from the product itself) and also a concrete color palette. The 4 colors will be implemented into the 4 different books which will describe each spherical layer in detail.

I have looked into how to properly trim these books so they will fit nicely within the case that I designed.. I believe a custom guillotine press would be the most efficient and professional option. Let me know if you know anything else.

CASE:
I am planning on outsourcing a CASE design, which will polish off my 4 books into a serious looking piece. I went to Canal Plastics and they seem confident they can laser cut this design and assemble it for a reasonable cost. I found a really nice "Blue Edged" plexiglass (only blue on the 1/4" thick sides, otherwise clear with minimal blue tint).

-----------------------------------
There is definitely more to come. I wish i was better prepared for class today. I am really working on it for the rest of tonight. Let me know what you think!

Thanks
Jared

myOsphere - Jared

Hey TypeFamily!

So this week is going to be nuts for me as i try to create an entire book from bottom up on my new idea called "myOsphere". This company produces a miniture, invisible biosphere around a home which will allow you to control the weather within a given radius. There are four layers, eaach with a different purpose, within the entirety of the WeatherBoundary (see Diagram).

An alternate option, presented by Olga in class today, was to make this project more personal and have it be a sort of directional-based accessory, which will advise you of the perfect preparations (example: clothing) for optimal comfort in the current weather conditions.

I'm on a teeter-tauter with this idea, because I feel both options have a great potential! Any info on a direction or other ideas that may benefit my designing process would be much appreciated!

Take care all!

Opinions:

Hey guys;

MANALI
I think your new concept is very marketable and a huge advancement in hurtling the boundary of culture barriers. I def agree that TRANSMUTE is the best of your names.. it does sound well with your message and relates directly to the product.

MICHELLE
I really like your company name. It has a slight connection in my head to the "hello-Moto" commercials.. and i can't tell if thats good or bad.. makes it sound Asian, but i think that is good because Asian technology is highly advanced.
As for Logos, My favorite is the Typographic one at the TOP/RIGHT.. it incorporates the name, hinting at the product's intent, with a visual representation of both the eyes and the photo Black and White symbol.. I like it! The visual ones don't work, and remind me of lampshades or wine glasses.

JESSICA
Good Choice for logo.. it is def the most professional for your brand.. i dont know if it's perfect, but its a wise decision.. VERY nice research about memory, i am slightly confused about how your product will increase the memory, but i assume you have done much research and will provide valid details in your presentation.

K good work guys.. Things are coming along!

Jareds Company

Fool's Gold
Fool's Gold is a company that will provide real-life quotes to negate the overwhelming idea that money is the most important thing in life. This interested me because it could actually be done right here in corner stands across NYC.
Audience
Unsuspecting Elite, who would pick up a newpaper/magazine with a designed Fool's Gold post-it on it.

I have been stuck in this idea for a week and a half now.. I originally liked the message, but now find it somewhat boring..
So I came up with another idea:

WeatherDome

the name sux.. but I have an idea for a device which will control weather within a given radius.. it may be portable or for a home.. it will act as a forcefield of controllable weather.
Audience
Homeowners and average consumers.

I have been researching what causes weather changes and how that can be controlled.. I am more enthusiastic about this idea and i think it is practical and marketable.. I will post more more research and logo content this evening.. But I think i'm headed in this direction.

Let me know what you think? thnx

Transmute - language translating and transmitting system

Hi everyone!
This is Manali.
The name of my company is TRANSMUTE. I was deciding on the final name, and thought I could use some advice.
The product is a two piece device which includes a chip going over the voicebox and an ear piece which is connected to the chip via bluetooth. The idea and concept of this product is to translate one language into another for the purpose of the listener. For example, someone who can speak only English may communicate with someone speaking a foreign language using this device. All the speaker has to do is speak in English, and the chip uses the vibrations and sound waves converting them into another language that the listener or audience understands. In the same way, a foreign language may be converted back into English for the speaker, which he/she would listen to using the ear piece.
Thus, the name TRANSMUTE. The definition - changing in form, or changing the nature of from one form to another.
I thought of a few other names such as SWAP and ALTER, which all mean to change from to another.
Personally, I like the name TRANSMUTE best because I think it is most suitable for the product. It has an organic tone to it, like a metamorphosis of some kind.
It would be great if you could tell me what you think is best suited for the project!
Thanks!

Hi Again,
This is the final design I decided on, I am sort of stuck as to exactly how the product will come.
I was thinking of having a pill which dissolved in water (sort of like alka seltzer), mainly because I was thinking the drug has to stay in the body for a long period of time, to keep up it use.

OR just a small bottle of medicine, which would come in a pack of 6 or 8

stuck, Jessica.

Blinkoto - miracle eye camera

What do you guys think? Just to remind everyone that is is for my camera eye. I decided on the name 'blinkoto'. Does everyone like that name?

comment well! Thanks

Hello Everyone!

Hello everyone. My name is Trudy, and Im new to the blog (im in olga's thursday 3rd year class).Thank you everyone for agreeing to let us into the blog.
I just wanted to ask some advice from other blog members about naming my Company/product.

My concept is to have a company that releases a line of "3d model printers" for the home.
These machines will create a 3-d model of mostly anything you design. U can make aything from furniture and car machine parts to functional earaids.
These printers are currently in existance, but not commercially available.
My extra twist is that you can use empty water bottles and plastic bags as the raw materials to make it more eco friendly. (i also replaced heat energy with my own made-up patented wind power energy to make it more kid friendly as well.)

I am having a problem coming up with a name to describe and capture the essense of it. I came up with EcoKin (the words eco and kinectic), Eco-3, 3co....i am truly stuck. Can anyone help?

Hey everyone, this is Jessica, i've researched a lot on memory and its connection to the brain.

There are many types of memory, episodic memory is the memory of autobiographical and personal events. This is the type of memory that brings the emotion and feelings of a certain memory, this is the type that fits my project.
Episodic memory comes from the medial temporal lobe, which help us see, speak and hear. Inside the medial temporal lobe is the hippocampus, which are banana shaped structures inside the brain. There are two hippocampus in our brains, one on each side, left and right.
The hippocampus is the specific factor that helps us remember and store memories. These memories are 'saved' in the brain by the process of consolidation, which helps turn short term memories into long term ones.
This process happens mostly when we sleep, specifically in NREM sleep. NREM sleep is 'non rapid eye movement' sleep.
During this time of sleep, we do not move our eyes, and do not dream. This sleep phase happens when we first fall asleep.
Therefore, my product would have to somehow trigger the brain to go into NREM sleep phase.
I thought about having a drug that you would ingest that would make the person fall asleep and be able to stay in the NREM phase.
I was also thinking about making this become a service that I would provide instead of an 'at home' treatment. People would come to this building and they can take this drug, or get hooked up to a device, that would make this memory replay happen.
This is all very complex information so I would have to make this product very easy to understand for the average person to want to use it.

I changed my logo design from 'daydream' to 'replay' and created some new stuff,
