The Raven

Hi Dear Typefamily (should I say Dear Olga, Matt, Jared and Megan?? :P)

Here I attach my Raven.

Big type, big ornaments.

I tried to be baroque... and I think that I got it!

Please tell me your opinions,

Loads of love,

Gonzalo.

p.d: The other day I went to the Met, and guess what story has some illustrations made by Eduard Manet...?

I like where your going with the swirls, have you tried playing with the opacity of the swirls, maybe variations of grays? I think maybe it would bring more attention to the title and author. Looks great!

This is Yong joon.
I love Overall..
However, some reason i like previous type version.
It seems little busy, and I think red type was fine..
Great work.

This is very nice, really portraying the elegance of Poe's writing and the macabre atmosphere. A problem I have with script typefaces is that the swirls and decorative elements never seem to flow in the direction they should, they are all too stuck in their horizontal orientation. Maybe you could stretch some of the finer lines coming off the characters to fit more in a circular fashion, bend them around and perhaps remove some parts. I love this poster and how far its come. keep up the good work!

Hey Gonzo:

this poster has changed exactly as the class suggested. I think it is coming along great! I will criticize in saying that it feels slightly off center.. it's off to the left a little, just enough to seem like a mistake. I do agree with olga when she says the script doesnt quite flow as well as the image does. Otherwise great style and form. nice piece!

I think you hit the nail on the head, I really like it...but I agree with megan about trying different opacities, I think it would add a nice texture to it.
