Jessica, BIG JUMP FORWARD. I agree with Matt on it. You are out of box!

I also agree that the first composition is very musical, dynamic and expresses visually a music sheet, where music notes are replaced with different vibrations, rhythms, and different instruments....with the sound itself...like a music score.

I only wish there wouldn't be so many of cut pieces, but natural horizontal movement of musical lines.

I also wish that the whole page wouldn't be filled totally from left to right. In this connection, your second composition is more free in terms of usage of white space.

About the type.
First of all, I remember you used two different typefaces. Am I correct?, that is why "Don't stop me now" should be in that (Machine or Princeton Review??) typeface.

If your type in the book is going to be dark blue, then black here is not natural.

Both type solution can be developed nicely. For the first, I would recommend to break all your text in 5 lines: Visual Music, designed by jess..., inspired by, Don't stop me..., By Queen and arrange them as a column flush right.

Second one, that Matt liked so much, looks a little bit like a magazine cover and a logo in the corner. It is a very good device. Gold is actually very important to your project, but white on gold is a little lost among all that colorful activity around. I might be wrong because in print and in right size it might be correct.

I will try to attach to make it more clear.
