I see your progress. I like the possibilities of #3, but I don't like when you stretch type (#3,#5,#6). I don't think you need outlines at all. It is too early to think about the background untill the while stucture is solid.
You know, although it was me, who suggested a light "DEA" next to "ME", I feel it is such a high contrast in weight that it doesn't make sense. What if you keep your "ME' in #3 the same and continue "DEA"in the direction of the shadow, so that the left stroke of the "D" would touch the botom part of "ME" through the black cross-section. ..and I wouldn't make "DEA " so thin and so condensed, but more visually related to "ME".
